I chose Shahid Beheshti University for its strong reputation in language studies in the country — it is one of the top universities in Iran for German. My goal at the time was to work with German-speaking tourists visiting Iran, combining language skills with cultural tourism. However, the pandemic and a decline in international tourism changed that direction. Still, the experience helped me grow academically and sparked a deeper interest in tourism and heritage.
Note: Briefly pursued a psychology minor (inspired by literature) but could not complete it due to scheduling conflicts with my degree requirements.

Studying at the University of Tehran — widely regarded as Iran’s leading university — gave me the opportunity to explore tourism from a more academic and strategic perspective. During the program, I became especially interested in sustainable tourism principles and their real-world application. This growing interest led me to focus my thesis on regenerative tourism, exploring how destinations can be developed in ways that restore, not just sustain, their natural and cultural environments.
